One Week Later...

Well it's been just over a week since my last post. This comes with good reason. After a high bp appt with my doc on Wednesday, he asked me to check back on Thursday. After another appt with high bp, the doc decided to induce if I felt comfortable. Well, as miserable as I have been, I was ready...but nervous. He checked me to make sure I was "ready" and sure enough...I'd gone from fingertip dilated to 3 cm overnight.

With this scheduled, I raced into work, had a nice lunch with Sara and proceeded to clear out my desk and prepare for the temp. I was supposed to be in there training her this week...but that clearly wasn't in the plans!

So, Julie came over on Friday morning at about 5 am to stay with Roo and get her off to school. With that, we left for the hospital.

at 7 am they started my pitocin and at 7:30 my doc broke my water. Within about 10 minutes I was contracting every 3-4 minutes. By 9:30 I requested my epi and was at 5 cm. A little after 11 am, I felt tremendous pressure and made the nurse check me. I was already 10 and Jack's head was "right there." Immediately the nurses came in and started setting up. Once my doc got there I started pushing. I pushed for about 10 minutes ( through 3 cntx) and there he was!!! He started crying within about 5 seconds and is doing well! :-)

John "Jack" Malcolm Brown was delivered at 11:37 am. 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long.

Some guy named Braxton Hicks...

As the weeks tick along, I have all sorts of fun aches and pains going on. (Thankfully this pregnancy has been so EASY compared to Roo...yikes.)

First, it was my lovely leg and the blue nile that is my vein.

Yesterday brought all new fun! A little guy named Braxton Hicks decided to show up. Ok, ok, it's not really a "guy." More of an thing...seems like my lovely uterus decided yesterday was contraction day. I had contractions from sun up until bedtime. I was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day. UGH! Thankfully J was a peach and took care of Roo until bedtime. What a guy! :-)

Alls quiet for now. 35 weeks and counting.

** Ah yes, and Roo got a sticker this morning because she slept in her bed ALLLLLLLLLLL night. Praise the lord!

Today is B-Day

Ok, so I stole this from Lia but it's fitting. Today, being the first day of February has been designated as our own family "B-Day." This means a budget. Not a floaty idea about numbers but an actual written down plan. This is not fun. Infact, if I weren't "planning for our future" I'd say forget it. But me being me...I'm a planner.

So, these are the cuts. Minimal Targeting, no Goodwill (sadly our favorite store) and meal planning. We are also on a cash only diet.

Ask me how I feel in a week...

Additional Notes:

We still hadn't heard from the school about Roo's preschool registration so I decided to call. After alot of hemming and hawing, the director confessed...not done. Try again on Monday. Good thoughts...

Also, I have a woman (who is the mother of one of Riley's classmates) coming over to take some maternity pictures this weekend. She's trying to get her business up and running and offered! Luckily it'll be in the 60s and sunny. Now I just need to figure out what to wear!

33 Weeks 1 Day

Today I had an ultrasound to check amniotic fluid. Everything looks great and Goofy is still a boy. Here's a profile shot I got.

His nose is in the air, he's sleeping and his hands are up by his mouth. By U/S they estimate his weight at 4 lbs. At this rate, I suspect he'll be between 7 and 8 lbs, just like Roo.

The Boy Has No Name

There once was a little boy by the name of Goofy.

His sister (2.5 years old) lovingly nick-named him months prior to his actual arrival. He was named after a character on her favorite show "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse." What's not to love about the name?! It's a great adjective, it's short and to the point. Better yet, when sister called him, it often sounded like "Juicy." Like a big juicy orange. Sounds delightful.

After months and months of pouring over countless sites, books and magazines, mom and dad could NOT decide (read: agree) upon a suitable name. On the day he was born (hopefully on or before his due date) the stars were aligned perfectly and Mom and Dad had the "ah-ha!" moment they'd been waiting for...

"You will have a boy and you shall name him, Goofy Brown." So it was said, and so it was done.

Ok, ok, this won't be how the story ends but as it stands, we're still at a stalemate and have not chosen a name for this boy. I'm 33 weeks today, so we have about 7 weeks.

Maybe we'll wait until we get a good look at him...although I hope not.
